Like most things wedding dress styles are forever changing. Trends come and go, new styles take over and old ones come back in fashion. After 35 years in the wedding industry, I have seen these trends change and develop many a time. After reminiscing about the different wedding trends we decided it would be a nice idea to take this time we have to put together an archive of our Real Brides over the last 40 years. We spread the word and asked for any Sharon Hoey brides that would like to be apart of our project to send in their favorite wedding photo and the year they were married. We received an amazing response from brides all over Ireland loving an excuse to get out the old photo albums and share their photos.
We sorted the photos we received into years and styles and picked some of our favorite influential wedding dresses from each decade to pair them with. Due to the fantastic response that we received we have decided to release each new decade grouping as a blog post every week.
It has been so lovely to look back on the styles and fashions, seeing how much the dresses have changed and yet stayed the same. It has been such a pleasure for me and my team to design and style each of these dresses for our brides over the last 35 years, we loved putting this project together and now it is time for us to share it with you.
